sample some Digger Davis and Tombstone
|
Digger Davis, a State of Texas Banjo
Champion, has played professionally for
eighteen years. In August 2004 he and
his wife Jeannie, along with their then 13
year old son Jonathon and 11 year old
daughter Jamie, formed "Digger Davis
and Tombstone."
Jonathon (guitar, mandolin) has placed
third on two occasions in the Texas State
Flat-Picking Championship. Jeannie
(bass) and Jamie (mandolin) round out
this traditional bluegrass family band.
Light At The River is in response to
requests from the band's many fans for
an all Gospel CD. The new release
features three original compositions by
Digger.
Peeler-Switch, featuring four original
compositions, was the band's second
CD and well illustrated the family's
instrument virtuosity and fine vocal
harmonies.
Having had the pleasure of hearing
Tombstone perform on stage and of
jamming with Digger on a number of
occasions, I can attest to his hard-driving
banjo and guitar style.
